Story of this Masterpiece

Created in 1882.

This two-colored vintage-poster advertises General Mite, "The Smallest Perfect Man the World has ever produced, now in his 18th year. Actual present weight 9lbs". The dwarfism-themed show of the Royal American Midgets travelled abroad to the UK where it had its premiere in July 1882 at the Imperial Theater, London.

General Mite is shown wearing a black smoking with a matching Chapeau Claque, holding a gentleman walking stick. To emphasize the very unusual height of the performer, the advertisement-poster illustrates him standing on top of an adult hand along the caption "Actual Life-Size".

Decorate your rooms with this piece of circus-poster-history to remind yourself of how wild it must have been to live at a time, when real people would serve as a paid attraction just for being born different. Educate your guests on the matter that this unbelievable poster is indeed non-fictional and has been issued just like this.
